optimum whey has been rated top whey product of the year for like 3 or 4 years now. you really don't like the taste gaybe? i thought it was pretty good. chocolate is my standard usually. i started strawberry and banana (meh) and i've done regular strawberry (also meh).
if you don't like it, you should blend it with other stuff. it depends on the time. but after workout or for breakfast if your'e downing some whey, you can afford simple sugars (i.e. simple carbs like white bread, potatoes, blahblah). you can throw some ice cream in there during those two times and not really face any fat gain as long as it isn't too much and it fits with your total macro nutrients for the day.
i've tossed oats, fruits of any kind really (might be good to do as a healthy way to sweeten it up), peanut butter (pb is an excellent way to up the taste and stick some good calories in there and add to protein content while forgoing any extra carbs), or maybe just some straight up sugar. Again, like the ice cream, only during post work-out and breakfast and not alot but you can definately manage it. try it out
