From the studio "manglobe" who brought us Ergo Proxy and Samurai Champloo. All you have to do is mention Champloo and I'm fuckin' THERE. It might not be created and directed by Shinichiro Watanabe, but just the fact he has anything to do with the show (music, apparently) is enough to get me interested. I also have a thing for Animus that have more of a western vibe, so this should be epic. I saw ep 1, and it typical ep 1 fashion all it really did was introduce us to all the crap we already know from series summaries, but the music was nice and the animation was pretty good, so I hope this will be one of the more epic shows to come out. Episode 1 is currently subbed by BSS. See trailer:

Manglobe is fucking cool, so is Watanabe, so there doesn't seem to be a reason to not watch this. Differences in artistic styles and endeavors are always a +, good change from the usual template design that seem to pass over from studio to studio / artist to artist. and the music was nice and raw.
nice post

i just watched the first two episodes and i think it's great so far. the opening theme is so reminiscent of Cowboy Bebop and the art style is just great. Michiko is a drop dead gorgeous badass who wears uber short shorts. <3 michiko

Are you still watching this? What's it comparable to, if anything? I'm looking for something new to watch.

I dunno about demonhowe, but this is an animu I actually finished for once...if I had to compare it to something, I'd probably go with the obvious Champloo/Bebop comparisons. It's got that whole episodical thing going on in the sense that there is a main story to be told, but it just slowly unfolds in the background while the main characters do crazy shit.
I don't know how I felt about the ending, but I can say I liked everything else. So, watch it. Now.

So I got around to watching and finishing this series and I did enjoy it, but I thought it finished a bit abruptly. It just felt like they wasted a lot of time covering things that didn't affect the story or character development directly (the circus, Michiko getting sick and even Hana's love interest), then tried to wrap everything up quickly in the final episode, not explaining a whole lot concerning Hana's father and why he has been avoiding them. I also wanted them to explore the background of who Hana's mother was, or maybe they left that alone because it didn't matter at the end of it all being that Michiko was her mother figure. It left me with a couple of questions, but not exactly wishing for more episodes or another season. It was cool for what it was, but the redundancy of the formula for the episodes was enough after about 14 of them in a row. Very good effort, but I feel Samurai Champloo was better.

Umm...that's ALL it was; dodging bullets while driving from town to town. There's your action and there's your adventure. That wasn't even the basis I was comparing them on though. Same studio behind them, foo'.
